V8
As part of my new healthy lifestyle (What? Sometimes I care about my health!), I just finished my third Low Sodium V8 of the day (Now with 70% less sodium than regular V8!). The only thing that would make this better is if it had about 70% more sodium. Oh, and some vodka. Maybe a celery stick. Slim Jim might be nice. Four olives. Nice dill pickle spear. Mmm. I love livin’ healthy!

Y’know, there are many less gag-tastic ways of acquiring this health of which you speak.

Wow! Slim Jim bloody mary? Sounds horrible and interesting all at the same time!

Funny you should mention healthy lifestyle. I just got back from the grocery store with corn, carrots, salad makings, etc. I’m starving yet there’s nothing to eat. At least nothing that I want to eat.

Hi there,
We’re having Chicago week over at Creme de la Mode and decided to feature Run Jen Run as one of our Chicago faves. Please have a luck if you like!

oh and there’s not shame in a little vodka to cut the sweetness.

Just how much sodium does regular V8 have?

I don’t usually drink Bloody Mary’s, but I have recently become fond of pickled asparagus. It sounds kind of strange, but it’s good. The company that bottles this stuff suggests spicing up your Bloody Mary with a stalk or two. It’s making me want to add some V8 and vodka.
The only downside…it’s $7.99 a jar and it makes your urine smell funky.

I’ve tried gagging down the V8 drinks and just can’t… even with 50% vodka. But the new V8 Fusion drinks are not so bad!

Dingo is making me laugh because this is what ALWAYS happens to me. I get back from the grocery store with a bunch of healthy crap, and all I can think about is how I am starving for Mexican food.

Since you’re using 100% more garnishment to offset the 70% less sodium, you might as well throw a little paper umbrella in there.

sir: there are? DO TELL!
pants: so horrible it’s delicious!
dingo: i know exactly what you mean. i’m always like, “hey! who replaced my bag of mini snickers with these stupid carrots?”
creme: hey – thanks so much! i’m honored to have made the cut.
finn: uhh, a LOT! i think one tiny can of regular V8 has about 50% of your USRDA of sodium. that’s why it’s so good.
student teacher: i’ve never tried the pickled asparagus… but now i just might add it to the list.
dave2: ooh – i like the V8 fusion as well, but Spicy Hot V8 is da best!
elise: isn’t it true? for me it’s usually pizza i crave.
delmer: not to mention the fact that all my garnishes have way more than the 70% of sodium i’m missing…

A bartender in New Orleans laughed at my request for heavy olive and told me if I wanted to REALLY dress it up, I needed pickled green beans.
I hated it.

The last time I drank V8 like that, I found out I was pregnant with twins. I was craving it like a meth head. So no Slim Jims or vodka then either. Or meth, for that matter.

What? Who says vodka and Slim Jims aren’t healthy? That’s blasphemy.

WHAT?!?!?! Just shocking to think about a child of mine eating anything low-salt.
I really thought that I made you kids understand that SALT is one of the major food groups.
(And how I remember that curly-haired cherub who used to watch TV eating a dill pickle wrapped in a napkin. Thanks again for not dripping the juice all over the recliner.)

I so love a good bloody mary. But I’m starting to be wary of ordering them at bars because at least 50 percent of the time, the bartender has to spend 20 minutes in the back looking for the bloody mary mix, and I start to feel like The Difficult Customer Who Likes Weird Drinks.

jessica: hmmm – pickled green beans? i might try them if they were spicy.
michele: actually, i think you’re still okay to eat slim jims when you’re pregnant – as long as you don’t get them in the raw fish or lead paint flavors.
churlita: the world is all topsy-turvy, i know!
MOM: i actually thought about adding a packet of salt to them… how bad is that?
cheryl: what’s up with that? that’s because you live in LA. here in the midwest, you can make a meal out of a bloody mary. i know a place that serves them with a shrimp on the side of the glass – cross my heart!

When we go to a particular friend’s house for Christmas morning, she always greets everyone at the door with a bloody mary and it’s always garnished with one celery stick and one pickled asparagus spear. I always hand mine to Mr. Eclectic.
Wow. Great story, Shari.

I hope you’re incorporating The Chocolate Food Group into this healthy diet.
