TequilaWha?
I was forced to do something against my better judgment on Wednesday – something I vowed never to do – but I was driven to this state by the actions of one man. A man I love dearly, but oh my god, don’t ever ask him to keep a secret. As one of the founding members of the TequilaCon committee, Brandon had the responsibility to hold the date and location under lock and key until such a time when we had secured a final venue, or at least narrowed it down to a few options. But then almost two months ago, it started with an email, and I knew I had to worry.

It was only a matter of time before he would crack under the pressure. And then I heard rumors of him starting guessing games and leaving a series of clues on Twitter. I had to know if it was true. I had to stop him.
For ages I had resisted joining Twitter because a) I don’t really understand how it works and b) I feared it would be the end of my already sporadic blogging. But he was out of control and someone had to intervene. Vahid tried his best by posting red herrings all over the internet. Dave played it cool and feigned ignorance.
But now the time has come to put Brandon out of his misery. So here I am, a reluctant Twittite, finally announcing the details of TequilaCon 2009.
When the TequilaCon Planning Committee came to Chicago in October for our hard core planning session, we narrowed down the list of candidate cities to a possible six or seven. Then we spent an agonizing number of hours weighing out the pros and cons of each option.
Frankly, even we were surprised with the final outcome. But after much deliberation and intense research, TequilaCon 2009 will be held…

…in Santa Fe, New Mexico!

For the first time in TequilaCon history, we are heading to the Southwest! Yee-haw! Wait… do they say that in the Southwest, or the South? Guess we’ll find out.
So this still leaves a lot of questions, I’m sure, like – what is TequilaCon? And where will we be meeting up? And where should we stay? And will Brandon wear pants? But for now, I can only ask that you hang tight as we work through the final details. Santa Fe, NM… I think my scooter can make it that far… all the money in gas I will save, I can use for a nice room and lots of booze.
It’s not Vegas, but wait… isn’t there a Las Vegas, NM??? wouldn’t that have been fun to have it there….. nah.

Damn it! I can’t believe that in five years and five opportunities I am going to miss every single TC. I am going to be on my honeymoon starting that very day!
OK, what am I saying? I’m going to be getting laid while people bring me drinks to my spot by the pool for seven straight days. My honeymoon is way better. Sorry, guys.

I haven’t made it to any yet….I’m just finishing my first year as a blogger. I would LOVE to attend TC’09, but don’t know if it will work with my schedule yet (I’m a school teacher). However…would LOVE to be added to the mailing list for info ‘just in case’ I happen to get need a long weekend and have a few personal days to use up!

Santa Fe should be the perfect place for Tequilacon. It’s so close to Mexico, the Tequila should be even easier to come by.

Oh this sucks because it’s finally close enough I could make it, it’s right next door to me in sunny AZ. Alas, we have family in town starting the 24 until the 29. Dammit I wanted to come meet ya’ll. Maybe next year. I’m going to go pout in the corner now.

Just came to check what dates this was again because I had blocked it out of my mind so I could wake up each morning.
Sadly, I did not win the lottery since this was announced and cannot get myself out there when I already promised to get my ass (somehow) to …CHICAGO…in July.
So yeah…will miss you all terribly at this event, but will be in touch about meeting up in your fair city while BlogHer is going on and I walk around taking photos during the day.
